Dad's Top Tips For Affordable Disney World Vacations

Here are 5 money saving tips for affordable Disney World vacations.

Go to Disney World during Value Season - Value Season at Walt Disney World includes some of the best times of the year to visit. The weather is usually pretty nice and the crowds are light.

There are lots of extras during Value Season. Events like, Epcot's International Food and Wine Festival, Mickey's Not so Scary Halloween Party, and all of the Christmas related festivities all happen during Value Season.

Disney also runs lots of promotions during Value Season. This spring it was buy 4 get 3 free. This fall you can get free dining during your visit.

The price of the Disney hotels is a lot less during Value Season. One night at the Pop Century during Value Season is $82.00. That same room during Regular Season is $105.00 per night and during the holidays it reaches $145.00 per night.

The best time for an affordable Disney World vacation is during Value Season.

Save money on food - Meals at Disney World is part of the experience. The restaurants are all themed, and it's fun to check them all out. But it's expensive. Here are a couple of money saving tips for food at Disney World.

Stock up your room. Go to a local grocery store and buy your favorite drinks and snacks and even sandwich stuff and keep them in the room. All the Disney Resorts have small refrigerators available (some charge a small fee) that will keep items like soft drinks and such chilled. Just eating breakfast in the room will save a bunch of money.

Bring your own food to the parks. Pack a backpack with water bottles and snacks when you go to the parks. A bottle of water in the parks is at least $2.00. That's outrageous.

Take longer vacations - this is Dad's favorite Disney World money saving tip.

Disney park ticket prices go way down the longer you stay. A two day ticket costs $74.50 per day where a 7 day ticket costs $32.57 per day. So the longer you stay the less per day you spend on tickets.

The only downside is you can't go as often. (Somehow I just can't get that part right.)

Don't park hop - Park hopping (going to more than one park on the same day) at Disney World sounds like a really cool thing, and sometimes it is. It's great to leave Animal Kingdom when it closes and run over to the Magic Kingdom and watch the evening fireworks. Dad's money saving tip would be to go to the Polynesian Resort and watch the fireworks from the beach. It's a great view. They even pipe the music in.

The Park Hopper option for Disney World tickets costs $53.25 (includes tax) per person. If you stay 2 days it costs $53.25 to add park hopping. If you stay 10 days, it costs $53.25 to add park hopping. For a family of 4 you can save over $200.00 just by planning your days and staying in the same park.

Do your homework - This is essential for an affordable Disney World vacation. A good plan will save you money.

Set a budget. Give the kids Disney Dollars for their souvenir shopping. That teaches them how to handle money and give them a sense of entitlement.

Plan your meals. Eat your big meal at lunch. Most of the restaurants cost more for dinner than for lunch.
